QUOTES
FROM THE PRESS
« It may be expected that the “ABBAmania”
will turn the public’s head again - on 18. July
the spectacle ABBA GOLD is going to present to the
public 23 all-time-classics of that legendary Swedish
group at the Olympia-Hall in Paris.
On last Monday evening, aproximately 3000 invited
guests were able to see Björn, Benny, Agnetha
and Anni-Frid, who seemed even more authentical than
the real members of the group, which was discovered
in 1974 during the Eurovision Song Contest, performing
“Waterloo”.
The setting, which didn’t lack of a certain
kitsch, brought back to the public a choreography
that included certain elements of the traditional
scandinavian culture. Everything was a copy of the
original setting, and, from “SOS” to “Fernando”,
including “Dancing Queen” or “Super
Trooper”, ABBA’s whole repertoire was
introduced to the public. The vibes were very good
at that evening and the spectacle took place not only
on stage.
In 2000, an inquiry discovered that ABBA had sold
more than 320 million albums all over the world, hence,
the music group is the third most successful band,
right after the Beatles and Elvis Prestley.

ABBA GOLD Guest in Flavie Flament’s TV Show
– “One No. 1-Hit after another“
By Partcie Gascoin
Flavie Flament: “The history of the group ABBA
is just mysterious…”
Toninght, on TF-1, national French television channel,
flare trousers and mirror-balls are returning on stage.
Flavie Flament dedicates today’s show to the
age of disco and especially to a mythic music group
that was once founded in Stockholm: ABBA.
Q: In 2006, disco-music has got its 30th anniversary
– what are you thinking about, when you hear
‘disco’?
A: I remember images of extravagant costumes and of
incredible looks. But I also have to think of the
great success of that phenomenon at that time. Especially
considering the global triumph of ABBA. The history
of the group ABBA is just mysterious… What happened
to the members of the group after they split?
Q: Is ABBA the incarnation of disco?
A: Yes, because today people are still remembering
ABBA, this group has kept fixed in the public memory.
I think their success can be compared to the success
of Elvis or the Beatles. I am really happy that I
have now the possibility to present this TV-show,
mainly focussing on ABBA and his history. How could
we ever forget hits like “Mamma Mia”,
“Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” or “Dancing
Queen”. The last time that they performed together
was in 1986.
Q: Who is going to be your guest on stage?
A: On my side, you will see the official crew of ABBA
GOLD, a show that is now internationally on the top
performing a spectacle that reunites ABBA’s
greatest hits. I will also be accompanied by the biggest
stars of the disco era such like Gloria Gaynor, Grace
Jones, the Pointer Sisters or Michael Sembello. Also
the new generation is joining our disco-party: you
will also see Amel Bent, Nâdiya and Gage). I
promise you, it will be a colourful evening. Spectators
will see and hear one No.1 hit after another and do
not forget all the filmlets and images that will allow
us to discover or rediscover the history of this group,
it’s look, it’s hits and the numerous
remakes of it’s music.
Q: Are you also going to sing?
A: Well, but I only know one song (she laughs). It
seems to me that compared to these wonderful artists,
my talent is rather small. »
